Pior to '87 ( when the ASC conversions became an official "factory" option under a contract with GM ) just shy of 200 were made at the dealership level ( between the customer, dealership and ASC. Chevy factory not directly involved ). What you have is simply considered an aftermarket unoff...

Site looks awesome Paul. After years of navigating around the old site, the new one will take some getting used to, but it'll be worth it. I'll try to be around more. The last 2 years has been nuts for me . . . - had another baby last May ( now 4 kids, a dog, 6 cats, 2 horses and boarding 6 more ) -...

Welcome!!! Sounds like he has a really nice ride. Not sure what he might have meant by, " before they decided to start the factory up again ". As far as I'm aware, the 478 1LE's made were all made in the same manner. At the Van Nuys, CA production plant, they were built on the same product...

There was never a 350 in any stock 3rd gen convertible and also there was never a 350 in any stock 3rd gen with a 5spd manual made available to the public. This applies to all the 3rd gen years ('82-'92). There's was also no such thing as a special order on any engines ( Some might say what about th...

I personally have NEVER heard of any rental place having a 2002 Camaro Convertible as part of their fleet. Fleet vehicles are basically purchased vehicles for a business. While could possibly have been for rental purposes (WISH I could rent that here ;-) ) but sounds more likely perhaps a fleet veh...

Hmmmmmmmmm . . . 16 days and no reply? I guess they'll go back in the box!
Actually they sound kind'a cool. Are they in good condition? Might be kind'a cool to throw on the car if you make any stops at car shows.
Any pics or are they stashed away already?

Welcome! :)

Sorry there hasn't been a reply yet. I'm not a transmission expert, but I'll give this topic a bump-up and move it to the Drivetrain/Transmissions/Rear Endssection. :)

Appraisals are not just a speculative number. An appraisal ( such as in my case ) can also be used as the guaranteed insured replacement value of the car. Very important when it comes to protecting out investments. Especially when the majority of cars produced are not of the same quality as time goe...

But if your looking for one that is a little more unique than most and likely to keep it's value or better, then that's a very reasonable quest. Many great options have been mentioned above. If you get a well maintained good example, ...

My all time best IROC would be a 1987 with the L98 350 Corvette engine. The IrocZ's 350 was not unique to 1987 other than it was the first year offered. No 3rd gen Camaro actually had the exact same 350 as the Corvette. Chevrolet did advertise that now (being 1987), just like the Corvette had a 350...
