Anyone can post pictures in the message board, but the featured rides is on hold right now.

The Featured Rides will be entirely automated and is being written excusively for Camarosource.ca

It will allow for rating, comments, editing of information, a database, uploading images, and much more.

The Camaro Of The Month you see being posted each month is from the list of the OLD featured rides (manually done and VERY time consuming).

alright, i was just asking cuz i'm having a hell of a time trying to get a picture of my car anywhere. i scanned it and its on my "paperport" program so i tried to upload it from there to put my pic on thirdgen.org and well it says it has to be a .jpg format or somethignand mine for some reason says .max, which i've never seen before. i treid putting it on microsoft word and then save it then upload from tehre but the picture comes out crappy and is rather small. looks even worse if you make it bigger. you got any suggestions on getting my pic to .jpg or any wya that mihgt just work?

Never used ScanSoft PaperPort before.

What scanner do you have? Your scanner should have came with a graphics program so you could scan and edit your images.

PaperPort isn't really something you want to use to scan your pictures of your car with as it doesn't apparently show to save as .jpg. It's more of a program to manage your scan layouts.

Hmm.. which Scanner is it? Can you see the model number?

Perhaps I can find something on their site.

Here is your answer:

http://www.visioneer-europe.com/support/faqs/6.htm

"Alternatively you can save the .max files as jpeg files which is an industry standard for pictures and can be read by nearly all modern computers.

To do this, double click on the small image stored on your PaperPort desktop. Once in your new window (Page View) click on file then Save As... Click on the arrow next to the 'Save as type' box, select JPEG (.jpg) from the drop down menu and save it to your desired location. Now as this .jpg file as an attachment to your email and the people that you are emailing to will be able to open it without any difficulties."

We're talking about an avatar thumbnail imagine, not a big picture. :-)

In the graphics program, you should be able to re-size the image. It shouldn't be any larger than 100X100pixels.

I have a feeling you're getting the Avatar image confused with the signature image.

There are 2 images:

Avatar: a small (100X100 pixel max) image that displays under your username (like how I have a picture of what looks like a front picture of my car, and "ADMIN" and a whole bunch of ribbons". You can either upload one, attach one via your site address, or enter the URL to one on another site.

Signature: You can enter a link, text, or image into your signature. The difference here, is you don't upload your image. You can enter codes (BBCode: programming like script for this message board) that will allow you to either display links to websites, or images, or display an imagine IN the signature. The signature displays on the bottom of your messages after the "_________________". To show an image in your signature, you need the image to be on another site or server. As it's a link and not a file you upload. If it's on your computer, then it won't work as you can't upload it to the message board. You need it to be on a site where you can specify the URL location to the image on that server.

My signature shows a picture of my car and links and text.

The reason the [img] did not work is because this is a webpage, not an image.

The actual image is http://www.geocities.com/rickers91rs/Camaro.jpg

and so by using [img] with this url you can get

OK to post a pic...you have to host it somewere on the net, for example,
http://www.cardomain.com/
http://www.imageshack.us/

Once the pic is uploaded there, put your mouse over it and right click, select properties, and copy the URL address.
Come here, right above the section where you post messages, there is a IMG button, click once, paste URL you copied earlier, and click ING again...voila pics appear.
