I don't think they have actually said it will be in showrooms for you to buy, but theres no doubt in anyone's mind that they will. You don't bring back a car like the Camaro in concept form, arouse this much hype, and then say "sorry, the designers just got bored and decided to make a new Camaro concept, hope you liked it."

I hope that change that ugly arse interior. That thing just looks horrible in my opinion. I'd much rather just see a mix of classic camaro look with a bit of a modern look, not a futuristic "Jetsons" type of look that they have now.

I was at the dealership last week having my car serviced and I asked a salesperson if the Camaro was coming out and he said in 2008. I hope he is right.

Personally, I wish they would build it just the way the concept is. Why do some of ya'll think they will change it? CC

I think they have to make some changes. The primary one for me is the location of the fuel filler door. Having it on the TOP of the left rear quarter pannel is not a good idea. That would be #1 on my list (albeit a minor thing overall). I also see the interior having some minor changes, but the same basic idea likely. Some minor (and sure hope it is only minor) changes to some body work like the miorrors (as they seem small and may not make the cut).

There are also federal safety guidelines which may force an alteration of some of the design. How well the bumpers hold up, cumple zones, side and curtain airbag placement.

All federal requirements for 2008 must be met.

Earlier this month I picked up an issue of GM High Tech. Performance and read the cover. 'CAMARO A GO' - It's a fact: GM confirms production 8O .
I add this because I'm currently in Afghanistan supporting the effort, an I use this site to keep up to date with news, but I haven't seen anything here at all on this new Camaro buzz. Maybe I'm lookin in the wrong place but the article goes on to say:

Now in early March, GMHTP has finally been able to confirm that a new Chevy Camaro will start production in early 2009 as a 2010 model. While many details are still sketchy, we know that its platform will be Zeta and it's looking like the Camaro will be produced in Aulstralia by Holden. Coupes will be built first, and convertibles will start down the assembly line less than a year later. Two engine configurations keep popping up witht he word "Camaro": the 240-horse, 3.9-liter LZ8 V6, and the 300-horse, 5.3-liter LH6 V8. At this point, there is no word on other optional V8 engines, but everyone knows that GM has the firepower to dust its revals in the Ford and DC camps with 350- to 450-horse V8 options  .

That's it in the article  , it then goes on to talk to several people with the same questionar like:
Jim Campisano - Editor, Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords
Chris Werner - Contributing editor, Attorney
Jim McIlvaine - Contributing editor, Broadcaster
Brian Reese - SLP Director of Engineering
Glenn Torrens - Motoring writer
Brett Rockey - Owner, BMR Fabrications Inc.
Now, this is from the May 2006 issue, volume 12, No. 5. Looking for some information, is this true or did I miss something since March. I honestly haven't been a member that long and I haven't checked the whole site out yet but thought I would have seen this around. Is this news or am I a day and a dollar short, 'cause now I really do have to pick up something for between next summer and then. An I still don't know if I'll be able to get the 5th Gen I want, this sucks. 2010

Sure, the only thing I'm more interested in than this car is picking up a '72, '78, or '79 to drive when I get home till this comes out. Then we'll see what happens. Although, I'm leanin more towards the '78-79 right no for some reason. I got all these ideas poppin' into my head for mods, it's crazy in here

I definately DO NOT see that happening. Yes it is based on the platform, but will be built in North America.
