Rumors are said there is a 4-cylinder turbo.. Personally I don't understand the concept behind this if it is true. The Camaro has never really been a great car for gas mileage; after all, it's not what you consider a "Family Car". Camaro's have never had nor have they really meant to have the family car atmosphere.. The Camaro is not the type of car if you want great trunk space; "Luggage Compartment" was pretty much just that, good for 1 (2 if lucky) luggage's and the Small ones at that. Just look at the 3rd gen Camaro's.. Their trunk space were non-existent.

Family car? Sure if you have only 1 family member in the car with you (Passenger seat) or a child in the back seat, an adult wouldn't want to trott around town for hours on end doing your "family" outings sitting in the cramped back seat with their knees sideways.

Camaro's have always been heavy and best of all, a MUSCLE CAR.. Not a family car.. So if you are buying a Camaro.. You shouldn't be worrying about fuel milliage and getting a 4-cylinder otherwise get a different car. A Camaro is KNOWN for it's MUSCLE CAR meca.. The LOOK, The POWER, The SOUND.. Getting a 4-cylinder Camaro is, well.. In my opinion.. Is NOT a Camaro. You Want a Camaro you make it a V8.. If you're worried about gas prices, then perhaps a V6.. But seriously? a 4-cylinder..

A heavy 6th gen Camaro being pushed by a 4-cylinder up the hill; Interesting..

My two-cents. :-)

We don’t see V-6 and V-8 engine choices going anywhere, but a turbocharged four-cylinder could join the options list to give Chevrolet ammunition against the EcoBoost Mustang. We also expect that the latest, fifth-generation small-block V-8 from the Corvette and Silverado will replace the current Camaro’s 6.2-liter LS3 engine, and the CTS Vsport’s twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 should fit just fine, too. Buyers likely will still have the option to manually shift through six transmission speeds, while the automatic gearbox should be GM’s eight-speeder.
