This quote from the article made my day and put a huge smile on my face.

Rest assured, we remain committed to developing RWD, premium,
high-performance, affordable vehicles, perhaps even a few with a trace of nostalgia baked in.

Dang that makes me happy to hear GM use "nostalgia" when describing future vehicles.

yeah i hope they go with more of a retro look if it ever does eventually come out. unlike dodge's charger which resembles nothing of a charger. infact i dont really like the new GTO (i hope i dont attacked for this) becuase they called it a GTO to pretty much grab attention to it. it resembles nothing of an actual GTO and i dont think it would have near the publicity it did if it didn't have that badge on it.

i completely agree with Dragster Punk, the new GTO's do look pretty sh!tty, i wish they'd stop making them and bring back the real cars, our beloved F-bodies, if i had the power, i'd sacrifice the GTO and Corvette(which looks nasty also) and bring back the F-body. and drop LS6 on the SS and Firehawk, LS1 on the Z28 and Trans AM, and maybe the Blazer's 4.3 Lt. V6 on the RS/Coupe/Firebird...but that's just me talking, i don't think it would happen.

It scares me when they take classic cars like the GTO (or Chrysler's Charger) and turn them into 4 door grocery getters :x .

I think I'll blow a gasket if i ever see a 4 door Camaro!!! What's going on here???

Kudos for Ford (I'd hate to say) for at least trying to keep the magic with the reincarnated Thunderbird and the new Mustang.

Sorry, my fault about the GTO being a 4-door. I just meant the Charger.

Must have had GTO on my mind while typing! :fish

just think if GM brought back the f-bodies, chevelle, maybe the nova and el camino (all designed in retro-style) just think of all the money they would make. obviously they will never do it. i'm only 15 so i didnt get to live through the golden years. my dream is for the Big 3 to bring back some of the old cars at an affordable price, i think it would be awsome if there was another age of Factory Wars. Dodge already screwed up with the Charger though. it seems they're goal is "lets design all the family cars we can, then put supercar badges on them, throw a new Hemi in it, and we're done".....which is just gay.

infact one time i heard someone bring up the subject on Chevy bringing back the Tri-Five cars, and design them pretty much exaclty like the originals. obviously more power and better suspension/handling but you get the point. i mean, people who go crazy over them. the waiting list on them would end up being like 2 years. just another crazy idea is my new car pipedream.

The bottom line is that there is no money in RWD performance cars (please don't flame me). The big 3 make their money off of family cars, vans, trucks, and SUV's. The demand for new RWD peformance cars is just not great enough. Sure everbody says a new camaro/firebird would be awesome and we would all go out and buy one...but I bet less than 25% of people who said that won't spend $30,000 for a brand new camaro. I believe that the Mustang and Corvette are more for publicity than for actually makeing money. Somebody might see a corvette and say "Wow, that Chevy Corvette is pretty hott. I can't afford one, but I think I might buy a Chevy Cobalt because all Chevy vehicles are pretty nice just like the Corvette."

Because of hikes in gas prices the muscle car demand has gone down. It took a spike up recently, but I just don't see it lasting very long unless gas prices cut in half.
