Distinguishing Changes from previous years |

Below you
will find a number of changes to this Camaro year that
will help you distinguish between this Camaro year and
other. Some changes may be able to spot easily and
from a distance while others may require you to do
some close-up visual checking. |

Models: IROC-Z introduced for the 1ST time. |
 |
Models Features: Base Coupe & Berlinetta NOW had narrower hood slots, NO front license pod via a 1-piece lower grill. IROC-Z had license plate pod. |

Models: Base Coupe: NOW had a "gride-type" grill. |
 |
Models: Berlinetta: NOW had a "gride-type" grill. |
 |
Models: Z28 NOW had a slotted "gride-type" grill. |
 |
Models: Berlinetta now had rocker pinstripes and paint accents were now SLIGHTLY HIGHER than the previous year. Lower body pinstiping on the Berlinetta was revised by an additional thicker stripe on top of the other 2. |

Models: Z28 NOW had Black ABS Plastic louvers on the hood (IROC-Z also had these). |

Models: Z28's dark-lighted parking lights (front facia) were NOW FLUSH with the front facia. |

Models: Z28's chin spoiler was now smoother, and the side ground effects were now hung futher down. |

Models: ALL Camaro's in 1985 NOW had aluminum radiators. |

Models: IROC-Z had a "CAMARO" logo on the center grill where the license plate would go. |

Models: DELCO radio in the Berlinetta NOW lighted buttons. |

Rims: Berlinetta NOW had another rim available. It was a newly designed "Full Wheel Cover" that looked quite similar to the one for the Base Coupe. |

Models: Z28's and IROC-Z's equipped with manual transmissions had vinyl shifter boots. This would change to Ramsag leather boots in 1986. |

Features: Gauges changed slightly. Base Coupe & Z28's switched from the double-pointer (simultaneous readings for miles-per-hour and kilometers-per-hour) speedometer with a more conventional single-needle unit. |

Features: All Camaro's had new "wet arm" windshield wipers with washer outlets on the blades. |

Features: There was NO 3rd brake light anywhere on any 1985 Camaro. |

Features: Unique to the 1985 IROC-Z was the fact there was NO 3rd brake light (CHMSL), anywhere. It would be added in 1986 on the top leading edge of the rear hatch-glass. |

Models: This year for the Camaro, the Z28's number of lower body stripes grew from 2 to 4 with a body colored gap between the top 3 stripes. |

Models: For 1985, ALL "IROC-Z" decal located at FORWARD part of doors. |

Models: Pinstriping for ALL 1985 Camaro IROC-Z's consisted af a black stripe on BOTTOM, and 2 thinner stripes (1 body colored, 1 colored) on the TOP. |

Models: There were NO lower stripes on the 1985 Base Coupe. |

Models: This was the 1ST year in which the Berlinetta finned-aluminum became available on the Sport Coupe. The Sport Coupe version had argent accenting rather than gold and a center cap with the word "Camaro" marked on it rather than "Berlinetta". |

Features: The automatic gearshift plate had all white, large letters/numbers, and a smooth, rounded slider. (This would change for 1988) |

Features: Tail-lights for the Base Coupe Model had a gridded pattern that split each lamp into 6 horizontal rectangles (thick gap through the middle [no black or any accent colors]). [Same as previous year] |

Features: Tail-lights for the Berlinetta Model had a gridded pattern that split each lamp into 6 horizontal rectangles (black line with 1 gold pinstriping above & below it through the middle of the lights). The Berlinetta tail-lights looked like there were 2 more sets of lights however this was a unique feature for the Berlinetta only where the sections here were painted brush chrome. [Same as previous year] |

Features: New rear tail-lights were introduced for both the Z28 and the IROC-Z. These new tail-lights featured a gridded pattern that split each lamp into 12 horizontal rectangles (2 thin black lines through the middle). |

Features: Door handles for all models were black no matter what model it was. [Same as previous year] |
