Historical Footnotes On The 1975 Camaro

Robert L. Lund was general manager of Chevrolet Motor Division in 1975.

Model-year production of 145,770 Camaro's again reflected a large swing towards 6-cylinder (I-6) models, with 29,749 such cars being built. Model-year production of Camaro V8 engines dropped to a total of 116,021 units. All 1975 Camaro's were made at the Norwood factory (which also built 84,063 Firebirds). The totals included 4,160 units built for export. Camaro sales for model-year 1975 came to 135,102 units. Camaro sales for calendar-year 1975 came to 145,029.

Of the Camaro's built, 86.8% had an automatic transmission, 6% had a 4-speed manual transmission, 21.7% were equipped with an I-6 (Inline 6-cylinder) engine, 58.2% were equipped with a standard V8 engine, and 21.7% had an optional V8 engine.

100% (All) had power steering, 14.6 had manual disc brakes, 85.4% had power disc brakes, 6.1% had a limited-slip differential, 86.2% had steel-belted radial tires, 21.6% had tilt steering, 3.8% had power door locks, 7.3% had power windows, 100% (All) had bucket seats, 1.8% had a tinted windshield (only), 77.6% had all-tinted glass, 53% had air conditioning, 18.4% had a vinyl top, 53.5% had an AM radio, 17.9% had an AM/FM radio, 5.6% had an AM/FM stereo radio, 4.1% had a stereo tape player, 27.3% had a standard clock, 19.3% had an optional clock, 24.1% had a rear window defogger, 88.5% had a remote-control outside rear-view mirror, 20.3% had optional wheel covers, 25.3% had standard styled wheels and 45.7% had optional styled wheels.

A total of 138,679 new Camaro's were registered in the U.S. during calendar year 1975.
